The Muralists

Jennie Williams
Murals and muralists have enraptured me since childhood. The scale, the performance, the gutsiness of the muralists and the "background to life" that murals become, all make me deeply happy. Here are examples of my private work:

"Hannah" freehand pencil
"Dad's Place"acrylic on masonite
"The Oneonta Roundhouse"acrylic on masonite

I believe that we can be surrounded by "high" art, art that revives us, elevates us, employs all of our faculties and keeps us on our toes.
Mural painting allows beauty and interest to spring from surfaces, giving us hope, encouraging us to live our lives fully, and helping us to believe that we can change the world that we live in. The effect of murals and art on our daily reality is immeasurable, perhaps like the effect of the long lost beauty of elms on our ideas of "what is a tree".
My specialties in art are realistic portraits, landscapes and trompe l'oiel. I especially enjoy incorporating landscape and portraiture within architecture. My major influences are Botticelli, Van Dyke, Sargent and the 19th century American Hudson River School.

Krazy Kat comics from the 1920's will always find a warm place in my heart.

My work reflects my love of the challenge presented by the human face and the ever changing land, water and sky.
