William Cochran, and his COMMUNITY BRIDGE project of Frederic, Maryland, have been tremendously influential in the developing direction of the Mural Project.
His excellent work and inclusive vision have opened vistas of what is possible in both the art world and in his own community.
The vehicle for his mural project, Shared Vision, is a model for beneficial community organizations, and the warmth of both Willam Cochran and his wife Theresa have encouraged community participation in his major art project: a bridge linking all people through shared symbols.

SOME RESPONSES TO ONEONTA'S PROJECT:
"There is a special quilt pattern that I have made, with variations a few times. Patchwork quilts and this pattern specifically represent the spirit of community to me. Each individual piece adds to the whole. Sewn together, the pieces create a bigger, stronger, and more beautiful fabric than each piece alone. When you look at the quilt - you can see individual, and you can see the bigger - interwoven picture. Each piece is essential. Each piece is connected. The layers and the stitching of the quilt - represent the layers of community - the stitching the strength. The quilt is a functional artwork of beauty - It warms us when we are cold.
