THE MURAL PROJECT

. Under the non-profit umbrella of Oneonta's Art Council
. Steered by the City of Oneonta's Civic Beautification Committee.
. Goal: to realize a vision for a series of original and professional murals that promote community and economic growth in downtown Oneonta.

WHAT IS A MURAL?

A mural is a painting on a wall designed for that specific site. It can be interior or exterior, colorful or quiet. The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci is a mural.

!!! NEW !!!: Learn about MURALS SINCE TIME BEGAN to the present:

Why do we ask the question "WHAT OBJECT REPRESENTS THE SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY TO YOU"?

To inspire the comprehensive theme for the Mural Project, we invite people in our area to contribute their thoughts and energy by answering this question. In that way, each will have a hand in the painting of Oneonta's murals. Those ideas that are significant symbols of community will be painted in the future Mural Project.

This question originated in WILLIAM COCHRAN'S unique mural COMMUNITY BRIDGE a project that has been tremendously influential in the developing direction of the Mural Project.

What object represents the spirit of community to you?

WHAT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED:

  1. An OUTDOOR ART GALLERY depicting Oneonta's history.

  3. MURAL IN A DAY and Mural Happening in a Day.
